Drama, Disorientation, Distractions, and Distress of Dating

It seems that every spring, love abounds. And this spring isn't a disappointment. Why? Valentine's Day didn't fail to remind me of romance. Because of writing class (long story), Bambi, Thumper, and twitterpation have been on my mind a lot. My youth pastor's wife and another young wife at church are both pregant. Love is in the air.

It's times like these where it's hard to be single. I am more resolute now than ever to stay away from romantic relationships, but the longing is still there. I want so badly to be pure for my wife, but the lustful desires are ever-present. I love seeing movies and concerts with friends, but the wish for special dates with a special girl bombards me. I have more respect for my friends who don't date, but I can't keep me from wanting a girlfriend. Most of my friends' relationships are petty and never last, so why do I want to be like them?

My flesh wants earthly love but my spirit wants God. That's as simple as I can put it. I, the real Logan, wants nothing more than a thriving, growing, passionate relationship with God. But the old me still bugs me with a desire for a dating relationship. I'm also faced with the greatest Catch 22 of all time: I will only date a smart, wise, lovely, mature Christian girl, but all smart, wise, lovely, mature Christian girls don't date! It's such an irony. But what a lovely irony it is!

My closer friends-that-are-girls are all strong Christians who do not date. It's really cool how God has surrounded me with girl friends like these. I've got no romantic draw to these girls, yet it's so much fun to be around them! I'm sure one day, way down the road, I'll begin a relationship with a wonderful young woman. But I don't want to associate myself with the drama, disorientation, distractions, and distress of dating until I know myself to be a strong, wise, and prepared enough young man to handle it (and her).

I've re-entered the blogging world. Yay.

HA! The title made me laugh out loud. That is TOTALLY awesome irony. But it stinks, I agree. Hey, just keep being patient. When I'm tempted to be lonely or whatever, I just try to remind myself that some handsome guy is waiting on the right timing for me...and I have to do the same. It's...it's a somehow comforting thought.

Haha, it is an irony, isn't it? I could say the same (only about guys).

I can agree with Daniel, though, because it seems like every time I am longing for a knight in shining armor God reminds me that He is all I need.

I love the "lovely irony," too:)
Keep it up Logan! There's quite a few of us in the same boat! Desires of the flesh abound...let's keep our eyes fixed on Jesus!

ha ha, I love the title and I totally understand your frustration!
You want what others have but know that its not what God has for you...you know you are doing the right thing and that hopefully one day God will provide someone special but for right now it hurts a little.

Keep up the good fight Logan! I am sure God has a girl out there for you...I like to think about it this way though...God is working on both me and my future husband right now and preparing us and we will meet at just the right time. God's time! =D

Wow! I'm shocked by the response! Thanks, guys! I'm humbled at the praise and gratitude you all express here. But that leads me to ask a question. My posts about dating, purity, and sex tend to get way more views and replies than, say, my posts about Proverbs or 1 Kings. Why? Are my dating posts just that good, or are my other posts not so good? Or do you, my readers, just relate to and enjoy reading my dating posts more?

Relation I think. All teens are on the same page about wanting relationships. :) But I love all your posts.

Your bible posts are encouraging and inspirational, but i personally don’t struggle with accepting biblical truths, but i do struggle with my desire to date, and that struggle inspires me to write. I still really enjoy your bible posts too though.

Agreed on the lovely irony... and I think what Ashley said is true, we can all relate and it is something we think about. I agree with all these comments, preparation and purity will be worth it all in the end.
And no, your other posts are not bad. :)

Hey! I'm Ashley's sister! Your blog is great! I'm following it now and I'm excited about seeing what you post. I love your writing style and all your posts are great. Keep it up!

Now for a comment on this posting...I totally see where you are coming from. I'm in a relationship right now, and have been for two years. We are courting across 260 miles. It's hard, but the Lord is good. Why am I telling you this? Well, I just wanted to encourage you. God has an amazing plan that will blow you away. I didn't ever expect that I would have a relationship with someone in SC, but God knew. He has the perfect plan for you, Logan, and He knows that girl who is more than anything you could ever ask for. Nothing will be more satisfying than knowing she is the one and that you saved your whole self for her. Just wait on Him and know that Christ is working out a thousand things that you could never know or understand. He will bless you while you are waiting. Okay, I'm shutting up now. *covers mouth and clicks 'post comment'*

Thanks for that awesome comment, Becca sister-of-Ashley!! It's comments like those that I KNOW God's speaking to me through them! THANKS SO MUCH! You rock! Thanks soooo much!

And thanks for the great feedback! I enjoy writing my dating/purity/etc posts more, so that just makes it all the more fun when I get several comments on them! It's just interested how the dating posts get more views than others. Maybe I should name my other posts as if they were dating to get more views... hmm... ;) nah, that's lying! lol. Thanks!

@Ashley: Hey Sissa! I understand why you follow this blog and talk about it ;)

@LoVizzle:Ha! Yeah, I think most teens really struggle with relationships, so they naturally want to read about it. Not to mention....people love other people and love to hear about anything that has to do with it. It's good for Christians to hear other Christians talk about their views on relationships. I think it helps them no feel alone in the whole battle.

Wow! o.O My comments are always huge. *huffs* Big mouth. God gave it to me. *looks up* Thanks a lot God. *laughs*
